Mary Jo’s Fund to Fight Cancer

Mary Jo and Bruce Morrison

Mary Jo was a wife, mother and great friend to many. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. MJ’s need to give to others was the focus of her life. Many people want to help others but MJ had the ability to make a connection and make things happen. Mary Jo partnered with Haven Hospice to train volunteers, helped found Banana Splits in Haven Hospice for school children who had experienced loss. She volunteered with Child Advocate Rapid Response Team in Nassau County (FL) and established a bereavement support group which she facilitated.  She was awarded the Elsie Harper Volunteer of the Year award for Nassau Co.

Mary Jo's hard work touched the lives of many people and her memory lives on through Mary Jo's Fund to Fight Cancer (MJFFC).  MJFFC was established through a charitable trust to help in the effort to cure lung cancer. Mary Jo wished to “make a difference” in this fight, but unfortunately ran out of time. Today her wish is being carried out by her loved ones.

MJFFC* has partnered with UALC to support cancer research since 2008.

*GE matches the MJFFC gift.
