Uniting Against Lung Cancer (formerly Joan’s Legacy) invites grant applications for institutional research that studies lung cancer.
The Foundation is particularly interested in the genetic basis and biology of lung cancer, including that in never smokers, as well as novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of this disease.
There will be two tracks of Lung Cancer Research Awards:
1. Adenocarcinoma, to include bronchioalveolar carcinoma (BAC)
2. Small cell lung cancer—new in 2009
This funding is intended primarily as seed money for promising new work. It is not for supporting research where funding has either lapsed or has been previously disapproved.
Awards are generally made once a year. Each award is for $100,000 total, paid in $50,000 disbursements over two years. Indirect costs may represent no more than 10% of the total. Two progress reports are required—one by October 1 and the second at the conclusion of the project. The second disbursement is contingent on review of the interim progress report. Applications are subject to peer review by the Medical Committee of Uniting Against Lung Cancer. Funding for promising research may be extended further at the discretion of the Medical Committee.
Please note: The file should be no larger than 1 MB in size, the written project description should not exceed 5 pages, and no attached publications are allowed.
