Future advances in lung cancer research lie in the hands of today’s researchers. The Research Grant Program provides seed money for projects that otherwise would not be funded. Since 2003, Uniting has awarded 61 grants to the brightest women and men in the field in 21 states. These innovative lung cancer research projects are funded at $50,000 per year over two years for a total of $100,000. The goal of the program is for these investigators to use Uniting Against Lung Cancer’s research dollars to prove their concepts in order to be eligible for grants from larger funding agencies, like the National Cancer Institute. This financial support is necessary to bring their critical research to realization.
