Lung cancer must become a national health priority in order for the battle to be won. To that end, Uniting Against Lung Cancer is working tirelessly to increase the awareness that anyone can get lung cancer, nobody deserves lung cancer, and research into more effective diagnosis and treatment is required for conquering this disease.
Uniting partners with lung cancer advocacy groups, including the Lung Cancer Alliance and CancerCare, to build awareness of the disease. The organization promotes and recognizes excellence in journalism about lung cancer with its annual "Joanie Award' and the growing number of events stimulate discussion and media coverage. Additional efforts are underway to develop awareness events and fundraising programs in local communities, thus expanding the organization’s work.
