Stylish Service: Four HS Seniors Organize Charity Fashion Show for Cancer Research

Published: May 19th, 2011

While most high school seniors count down the days until graduation, four girls at The Rivers School in Weston, MA are spending their last month of school spearheading an elaborate project. These seniors are collaborating on fashion designs and meeting with national research nonprofits resulting in a one-night-only charity fashion show for lung cancer research.

Simone Aptekman, Lexi Howard, Robyn Seresky, and Margaret Taylor have been organizing the event since January, working with clothing sponsor National Jean Co. to create outfits for their 18 student and faculty models. All proceeds from the June 3 show will go to Uniting Against Lung Cancer, a non-profit that has granted over $7.3 million for lung cancer research. The students have a fundraising goal of $4,000, and anticipate having at least 250 people in attendance.

Tickets are $10 for students, $15 for adults and faculty. VIP tickets are limited but available and are $25. The VIP tickets enable you to sit alongside the runway and witness the show close up! Please email TheFashionShowSRML@yahoo.com to request a ticket. You can send checks made out to Uniting Against Lung Cancer to The Rivers School ( 333 Winter St. Weston, MA) attn: Hailey Miller
