Kites for a Cure®
Kites for a Cure® is UALC’s signature outdoor event, bringing together communities, families, patients, and friends to raise awareness of lung cancer, honor lung cancer survivors, remember those lost to the disease, and raise funds for critically needed research.
The first Kites for a Cure was launched in 2007 by Joan's Legacy on Coopers Beach in Southampton, New York. Since then, our Partners have held Kites events across the country. Together, Kites for a Cure has raised over $2.5 million to support the fight against lung cancer.

Promote lung cancer awareness in your community with Kites for a Cure®
Kites for a Cure is a great community, family or employee event, and can be combined with other activities including walks, races and carnivals. We provide the know-how and resources needed to get a Kite-Fly off the ground, and can help you bring Kites for a Cure to your community. Here are the details:
- Kites for a Cure is most often a two hour event - held at a time when winds are high and weather is mild.
- We supply you with white kites and signs with facts about lung cancer and the need for research.
- Attendees personalize their kites with messages and favorite images, raising awareness of lung cancer and providing hope and inspiration for all.
- Your volunteers manage the event day tasks including registration, art tables, and snack and t-shirt distribution.
- Kites fill the sky!
