Payal, a lung cancer advocate and one of UALC's Junior Leadership Board members, is joining us at the 2nd Annual Lung Cancer Awareness Day at Citi Field on Tuesday, June 24th to make a difference in the fight against this terrible disease. She also shared her lung cancer story with us:

"Lung Cancer took the life of the most honest, hardworking, and selfless man that I will ever know, my Grandfather. As his Granddaughter, I thought I knew the reason behind his cancer: he was a smoker. That was three years ago. Now I work in the Thoracic Service of the Clinical Trials Office at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Not only have I had the privilege to help many patients through Clinical Trials but my own Aunt, a never smoker, has newly diagnosed Stage IV Lung Cancer caused by a simple mutation. Lung Cancer is so much more than a smoker’s disease and we need to remove the stigma that this cancer affects only smokers. I joined the Junior Leadership Board at Uniting Against Lung Cancer to do just that. As members of the Thoracic Service, my colleagues and I want everyone at the Second Annual Lung Cancer Awareness Day at Citi Field to learn one fact: Lung Cancer kills more women each year than any other cancer...We need to raise awareness NOW."

Join Payal and UALC in the fight against lung cancer, come to Lung Cancer Awareness Day 6/24 at 7pm at Citi Field.
