Share Your Story: Jody, Maimonides Medical Center

With lung cancer being the #1 cancer killer – claiming 160,000 lives per year – we are striving to do all that we can in the fight against lung cancer. As part of our efforts, we work closely with our friends and fellow lung cancer advocates at Maimonides Medical Center to promote lung cancer screening because screening saves lives.

#Cancer treatment is most effective when the disease is detected early and CT screening is one method used to detect lung cancer early in patients who do not have any visible symptoms. Detecting lung cancer at its earliest stages can improve the 5 year survival rate from just 3.5% to over 50%.

Jody, Coordinator, Lung Cancer Screening Program at Maimonides Medical Center, shares how their lung cancer screening program works:

“The Maimonides Medical Center Lung Cancer Screening Program comprised of Thoracic Surgeons, Pulmonologists, Radiologists, Nurse Practitioner and Health Educator is a comprehensive, full service screening program. Patients or providers can call 718-283-2059 or go online to for an intake. A member of the team will return your call to make sure that you are eligible for a lung screening, and then schedule the test.”
