In Memory of our Friend and Partner, Keisha Kirkland

We are saddened by the devastating news of the passing of our friend and Partner, Keisha Kirkland. Our deepest condolences go to the family and friends of Keisha. We are honored to have known Keisha personally, and to have worked with her to raise awareness of lung cancer. Anyone who knew Keisha knew that she never tired of lending her voice to the cause.

Keisha, a former weathercaster at WYFF in Greenville, SC, was a healthy, athletic, non-smoker, who was diagnosed with stage 3A non-small cell lung cancer in 2008. Keisha first began working with our organization in 2009 when she and her husband, former Clemson and NFL pro-bowl linebacker, Levon Kirkland partnered with UALC to create The Keisha & Levon Kirkland Fund: Tackling Lung Cancer. Also in 2009, Keisha and her husband Levon donated an experience to UALC’s annual gala, The Strolling Supper with Blues & News.

Keisha’s philanthropic efforts continued in 2010 when she, along with the support of her friends and family, hosted The Celebration of Life Gospel Gala in Kentucky to celebrate life and encourage unity among all who had been, or knew someone, affected by lung cancer.

Keisha selflessly loaned her celebrity status to other lung cancer events to bring support to the fight against the disease, including Lungs4Life in Greenville, SC and Kites for a Cure®: Folly Beach, SC, both events benefitting lung cancer research through UALC. Her friends will continue the tradition of Kites for a Cure® in her memory this Spring.

We cherish and honor Keisha’s memory, as an amazing individual and true lung cancer advocate.
